Yes, Paglia's having a weak year or two. But she's been domesticated, f'r Chrissake, she's a MOM now. Over decades she studied the whole of human art history (while Dowd watched sitcoms). She ruled the 90's for reason. To judge her on a few recent snippets is like judging Sinatra on Mairzy Dotes, or the Stones on Hot Stuff, or Reagan on Bitburg.

Or Carter on the rabbit!

Paglia is a MOM? Of...A CHILD? Or was that an obtuse metaphor for something that I've missed entirely? I mean, I liked her in her heyday, but I can't really picture her mini-vanning her little darling to play dates.

What happened to Rosenberg, anyway? Where did he go?

Posted by: Kevin Drum at November 25, 2003 11:35 AM

Kevin -- Rosenberg retired. I think he still has some vague "senior editor" title, and is able to weigh in on whatever if he wants to, but he retired as TV critic about six months ago, I believe. Do a Google search on L.A. Observed, if you want specifics.

Now if they could only fit the golden parachute on Hilburn & Kevin Thomas....
