Snark Gets Results!: After ...

Snark Gets Results!: After my little post below about www.la.com, I received this e-mail from a Person in the Know:

FYI, Laurie Pike just started there. She inherited everything on the site. I don't know why they debuted it now, before she had a chance to make it over, but I guess they were committed to the launch date. I would guess the personality of LA.com will become more like Glue and less like...well, what's there. I think LA.com will allow Laurie to put her personal stamp on it much more than Distinction did. (Oh, and Laurie lives in Silver Lake, btw, so there *is* an East Side influence at the top.)

Community is also a high priority for Laurie.

Keep those insidery e-mails coming!

I bought my couch from Laurie on craigslist a little over a year ago. She lived in Echo Park at the time. Nice couch.

Yes! Yes! That's what I'm talking about. Nice photos on your site, Thomas Ryan Sebastian!

very nice photos TRS!
Representing Westlake! nice.

I'm curious to see what LA.com will be about. Nothing too promising there right now, and certainly not much of a voice. Perhaps they should limit the focus a little bit. Sites like MUG, Gawker and Daily Candy all seem to tackle NYC from various angles but with a voice. Citysearch sucks and is pretty useless. Good that "Community is a high priority" -- unfortunately it may be too little too late to add in to what already seems like a really confusing U.I.

Also, in my opinion, its hard to beat the food reviews of the LA Weekly. But the LA Weekly site is a horrible mess.

How is the couch?

I put the couch on craigslist before moving up north. It's now owned by a couple in Irvine. Click on my name to see the coass="comments-body">
