The Union-Tribune's site has got worrying maps, up-to-date road closures, evacuation centers, and so on. Be patient -- the site's obviously being flooded with traffic right now.

Thanks, Chandler. My brother & his family are surrounded on three sides by the Cedar Fire in San Diego, but he seems to be a good two miles away. Hopefully the sea breeze will pick up today.... As for me, luckily the dwarvish Hollywood Hills range of mini-mountains aren't the same kind of tinderboxes as the Coastal Range near Malibu & the treacherous San Gabriels north of Pasadena. And now, of course, if we get El Nino rains this winter, the foothill communities that didn't burn completely may be pulverized by mudslides....
