Interesting Thoughts on Sab...

Interesting Thoughts on Sabbath: Black Sabbath, that is. From Pieter K, whose public re-acquaintancing with the Rock has been a pleasure to read about.

Speaking of which, the deejay just played Teenage Fanclub's "The Concept," and I about started weeping like a four-year-old. Maybe it was the creepily Schwarzen-relevant lyrics....

Thanks to that damned PBS show, I've got nuthin but Delta Blues on the brain. I never realized how superior it was to the electric Chicago sound until now. Looks like I finally have something that combines beer drinkin and guitar playing in a productive way. I never knew you could use a bottle as a slide. I'm dangerous now.

"She wears denim, wherever she goes
says shes gonna get some records by the Status Quo"

One of my favorite all-time bands. Great songs from yesteryear. Their best of was just released in the US recently, including songs from their UK only recent albums.

The Fannies, always under-appreciated in my opinion.

"Bandwagonesque"...what a brilliant record. Nirvana and Pearl Jam got all the press and kudos in '91-'92, but TFC was something special. "Alcoholiday" still makes me giddy every time I hear it.

There's something about those darn Scots making superb, moody, Alex Chiltonesque guitar-pop records; my other favorite is "Darklands" by The Jesus & Mary Chain.
