ust read that article, and it was utterly boring, except for the small brief on his relationship with his wife. It was too cliched and shallow for my taste. Good observance!

I would point out that Cecile is 14 years old.... And Time magazine will be begging her to write turgid prosial bloodsocks like this 10 years from now, if she continues to eat her Wheaties....

The hell is an "iron-heel upbringing"?

I believe it is a reference to Jack London's "The Iron Heel" and the sentence is meant to contrast Arnold's uptight Austrian socialist upbringing with the markedly different and capitalist "lubrications of sun and fun and wealth that we still call California."
They are strong contradictions in his past that have certainly shaped him (he is an "outgrowth" of) into being the person that he is today -- and he IS a bit conflicted.
But that uncertainty is also a product of another factor that has shaped him -- literally -- steroids, which are the true window to his psyche and future performance. Arnold is a one thing at a time highly focused kind of guy.
He can do well if he surrounds himself with the right people - so far he has a good track record of dumping non producers in his life.
I like the guy.
I hope he appoints Larry Flynt to oversee the sexually handicapped in Cal. I envision viagra in the water coolers of retirement communities.
As a Floridian I am insanely jealous that you guys have upstaged us for stupidity and turmoil in politics. I can hardly wait until you get to the vote counting. I understand there are twenty six different ballots in LA, all with names printed randomly.
Its going to make the middle east look like Mr. Rogers.
