Just Asking....: If Google buying Blogger was great because now Blogger would be backed by Google's servers, why do Blogspot sites load crappier than ever?

It has been awful, past couple of days, hasn't it? Forced to go make-up my own crap, dammit.

Google is probably playing safe: don't want to see Google itself all bloggered-up (wouldn't that be fun if it wasn't Blogger servers but Blogger?)

Then again, having worked for several "acquired" companies in the past, I wouldn't expect much to happen quickly. Doesn't work like that: the Blogger proles will likely be on the defensive trying to retain their identity and resisting corporate assimilation by an evil Borg that doesn't understand them blah-di-blah-di-blah.

It's been AWFUL!

I can hardly get blogspot sites to even load anymore.

Exactly the same question I've been asking. Way too much of my past week's blogging has been about Blogger/Blogsplat issues.

It's as if they're trying to drive people away, to shed volume.

Now now, let's not overreact: in my experience with the tech world, you can pretty reliably assume incompetence over malevolence. Well, okay, not always, but it's a safer first guess.

I'm as big a Google fan as the next guy, but it's growing, and young, successful tech companies *always* suffer growing pains. I think it's in the Bible somewhere.

It may also be because Google/Blogger is shifting a lot of blogs onto a new blogging application at the same time as they are slowly moving the hosting services.

Either the blogspot people will be on the defensive or they'll be on the phone all day trying to line up new jobs.

As someone who recently started using blogspot, I hope it gets better, but it's a great service either way.
