Update on the DIA Wife -- Now She Accuses Me of Plagiarism! Background here.

So I called the DIA public affairs guy, and he de10, 2003 08:43 PM

Nik -- Staff of my local congressman, Henry Waxman, were *very* interested. Unfortunately, my district got gerrymandered, so my congressman is now Xavier Becerra, who seems to have much shakier constituent services. I talked to a guy, who lateraled me to an answering machine, and then didn't hear back ... but I'll check back tomorrow.

1. I feel very sorry for her husband. Though he didn't do anything wrong, guilt-by-association applies. There's nothing more embarassing than to have your boss come up to you and say, "Your wife did thus-and-so. Why?" Not even the skills of the Iraqi Information Minister can get you out of that hole. He won't recieve official punishment, of course, but there's more than one way to skin a cat.

2. Matt plagiarized me. I've used the word "what" numerous times and I find his brazen thievery of my word disappointing. Also, most of my Sooper Secret Gubmint Files have gone missing, to be replaced by a big, green "W". My suspicions as to the identity of the culprit have been confirmed.

Please tell me you're not vetting an article for Common Dreams to be headlined PAGING MARTIN NIEMOLLER: MILITARY SPOOKS ATTEMPT TO SILENCE WRITER

Just kidding. I really respect the straightforward way you've handled this. It's a petty little episode rather than a pattern of abuse, but it needs to be called.

Yikes. Yes -- Matt plagiarized it, from the squeaking voices in your head.

I hereby predict that the next e-mail will contain a threat of a lawsuit.

Is there the possibility whoever sent this email was just trolling? Perhaps she's from the ACLU and she wanted to make Poindexter et al. look bad.

Lefty-shmefty. I'm right of center, and *I* hate PAII. Every person that supports it has permanently lost my vote for everything except membership in the Jackass Hall of Fame.

As for that woman's reply, how typically reactionary: can't come up with a sensible retort, so just throw back an insult or accusation. Why not just call you a racist terrorist while she's at it?

Update on my Congressman -- Becerra's aide finally called me back, and though he started off with an "uh, I'll pass it along, I don't know what else to do," I hopefully steered him toward some more tangible activities.

This poor McLaughlin guy is probably single, and "Amy" is the guy in the next cubicle who's still mad that he got stuck next to the copying machine during that last office move. At least for his sake I hope so, because if she's real, he's got much bigger problems. Anybody checking URL's or whatever those tracking thead things are called?

RR -- I might publish her header-information stuff, depending on what happens next....

Meanwhile, this proves perhaps one of the most important points of Matt's article: all this extra police power rest on the idea of perfect people weilding the power. Unfortunately it is weilded by petty, raving dorks, or people married to petty, raving dorks.

i miss the old republicans, who just wanted the government to go away. every time a republican signs a bill for bigger government, a tiny angel dies.

ps: that lady's a nutter.

Kate, were there ever such Republicans? I guess it was before my time. Can we at least start some sort of tax revolt to bring back the good old days?
PS That lady must have missed her medication - twice already.

C'mon Amy, take me on! If your husband knows how to use Google, he can find out who I am and where I live. I won't have a job after today, so I can't be threatened that way, but I'm sure a big bad goverment employee can make my life a living hell. C'mon you weeze, take me on!
