Ben Affleck Update: (See background here). Casting director got back to me:

thanks for the pictures! i do see a little of what other people see. we'd love to have you at the auditions. [...] if you're up for it, you should put in a rinse in your hair to darken it for the audition!
I predict profound personal embarrassment soon. ... Anyway, here are the four Affleckian photos I sent. Whaddya think? A little cut-and-dye-job, some flesh-colored rubber cement for the butt-chin, spray-on tan?

You oughta put up that shot of you fucking Jennifer Lopez.

Can you pass along this picture of moi to your friend the casting director. I've been told that I bear an uncanny resemblence to Matt Damon.

Posted by: Steve Smith at March 28, 2003 01:58 PM

hollywood, land of dreams. Or is this a casting director from porn valley?

if they made a film based on the metropolitan, layne with a shaved head would make a great spider jerusalem.

Bah! not even drunk at work and i type everything wrong. TRANSmetropolitan.

"Or is this a casting director from porn valley?"

Dude, that's *exactly* what I was thinking. Don't do it Matt! Ahhgaaaahhhhd, don't sell yo' souuuulllll.....ahhhhh!!!!

But hey now: Soberly assessed, what if they should avail you of a Jennifer Lopez look alike --well....but.... ah, jeez. Forget it, I'm only "projecting." (Besides, I think you're married to a far lovelier woman than Ms. Lopez).

Or maybe the "Ben Affleck Story" America has been crying out for will finally be made...

Posted by: HH at March 28, 2003 02:41 PM

Spider Jerusalem? Ugh.

Posted by: Jim Treacher at March 28, 2003 02:50 PM

Now you're getting me worried!

Posted by: Emmanuelle at March 28, 2003 03:10 PM

Nothing to worry about, E-Rich!

Posted by: Matt Welch at March 28, 2003 03:15 PM

Can I have your autograph?

Posted by: Howard Owens at March 28, 2003 04:11 PM

You seriously do look like Affleck in the picture linked as 'four'. Not that that's a good thing.

Posted by: Matt Moore at March 28, 2003 07:14 PM

I take a quick break from Arab-bashing to note that you bear a stronger resemblance to that guy who used to be on that "News Radio" show. I think his name is Andy Dick?

Posted by: Robert at March 28, 2003 08:37 PM

Great idea, next week you'll be getting a call on working on your 'book', he's got just the stylist and shooter to help you out.
Only 1500 bones.
Definitely a star in the making.

If you need help pushing Affleck under a train, just tell me where/when to show up.

Posted by: MoronWatch at March 28, 2003 11:25 PM

I think number two (or "are") looks most like Affleck.

So, are you going to have to do a Boston accent too?

http://www.boston-online.com/glossary.html

Repeat as necessary:

"Aftah duh B's gaam we was out wi sahm Hoodies. I just hahd a sawbuck but Matt got news of a kegga in Meffa. Just a bunch a frickin skeezas --we bailed to Doyle's. Full ah frickin' FBIs. Matt got going on some Zoomie Yankie fan. It was wicka pissa til da Boys broke it up."

Matt, something about those photos makes you look British. Hell, you probably look British all the time. I can't explain it. (Maybe you're "from there" like I am.)

Posted by: Michael J. Totten at March 29, 2003 06:56 PM

That's right, British...he does look like one of the early drummers from Spinal Tap.

Posted by: Steve Smith at March 29, 2003 09:41 PM

British? That's the worst goddamn insult I've heard in weeks ... even if it's true. I'm pretty OG Amurrican, of Welsh/Scotch/Teabag extraction, with a big & interesting slab of 19th-century Kraut thrown in there. But I imagine myself looking much more like Dennis Wilson than, uh, Prince Charles.

Posted by: Matt Welch at March 29, 2003 10:09 PM

Based on the old photo with the hat, I always thought you looked exactly like a former co-worker of mine. But apparently you don't. My illusions are shattered.

Posted by: Matt McIrvin at March 30, 2003 09:48 AM

Please, please, please for the love of God, take Tony Pierce along with you to this "casting call." That's a photo essay we've *got* to see!

Posted by: shannon at March 31, 2003 12:30 PM

Your official site picture makes you look like no one more than your dad. When are you going to update it?

Posted by: Mom at April 1, 2003 07:23 PM

Saw your photo on Emmanuelle's site: Dark hair looks good on you, and that frown is perfect! You do need a bigger chin though. Maybe The Mulroney family in Canada could give you a hand!
