Happy Birthday, Ben Sulliva...

Casita del Campo. (Ben went to high school with the owners' son.)

Funny, I've never really had the sense that LA is one of those cities from which virtually none of its inhabitants come from--unlike SF where it seems truly no one native actually exists--but I suppose that in itself may be one of the side-effects of being a native Angeleno: we assume anyone can make themselves at home and find a place in our maddeningly beautiful sprawl; in short, become native, in spirit if not in actuality.

Again, compare and contrast with SF. Having just spent a long weekend there, I can't say the locals go out of their way to make outsiders feel welcome, and when I lived there in the mid-late 80s to early 90s, those who were native seemed to wear it like a badge of honor. No one I know here in LA seems to make a big deal out of being from here.

"Fortress SF" vs. "Park Los Angeles"...?

I'll shut up now!
