'Barbarians at the Gates of...

'Barbarians at the Gates of Paris': A critical look at France's oldht rings especially true to my experience, though my view might be colored by the fact that on my first visit I witnessed one man attack another with a machete. (Via Henry Copeland, who recently moved back to the States after several years near Paris.)

How can they let things get so bad?

I've been saying for the last few years now on several political mailing lists that I believe that at least one European Countery will fall to islamic rule withing 30 years. After reading this the odds for france to be first went way up. The Europeans won't have a clue until to late. The Socialistic mindset is blind to this.

In the US were not much better, but at least our immigration problem contains people that don't want to kill us (well at least not until there kids grow up and buy the Aztlan bull).

If western culture falls, the world will enter a new dark age.

Could someone who's a real journalist write an article on who thought up this idea (letting the Algerians come home to roost) in the first place? How did they sell it to the other people who participated?

Matt, I remember we had a discussion (by email) on the subject some months ago. I don't want to start it all again. The article you link to is well documented though hyperbolic. Too much dramatization in my view but also hard facts.
I'd just like to state 2 things
- the gangs in the suburbs are of mixed ethnicities (white, arabs, blacks...) and they should not be seen as north african only. The trouble experienced with integration also concerns "franšais de souche" (whatever it means).
In my opinion the unemployement factor is a major one here.
- Most of immigrants from north africa (most of them french by the way) are fully integrated in french society and are doing well. Yes, they are muslims and bring with them their culture. They are nonetheless respectable and law abiding french citizens.

Oh, and I don't know if you will read this, but what is this machete story ?!
