e of the above). Got married under the Catholic Church, though it was less than a full-on mass. And that's about all anyone could possibly want to know. Go Angels!

Jewhoo?!?! I have a twisted sense of humor, admittedly, but that really cracks me up.

Forgot to mention two things: 1) great granddad's name was William Welch, in case any of you have any of his pictures, and want to mail them to me; 2) Yes, Brian, 100% pedestrian.

I also got to this site through a yahoo search to check Eckstein's heritage. I am an American born Israeli, who loves North American sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) and as mentioned by a number of the others, we Jews are always in search of other Jews who stand out in some way. There are some we deny (like Roseanne Barr, for example) and others we love, as is the case with Shawn Green or Jay Fiedler who have me rooting for the Dodgers and Dolphins respectively. For those of you who laughed at "Jewhoo.com", you should know that there are many sites on famous Jews, though Jewhoo is unquestionably the best. Many of the others spread rumours while Jewhoo actually checks out most of their inquiries, or at least tells you the probability of their truth. In Eckstein's case, I started rooting for the kid the first time I saw him on Sportscenter sometime early last season. Couldn't believe how he kept showing up on the highlight reels and ultimately became one of the reasons the Angels won the WS. I decided to check out if he really was Jewish during the playoffs, and though I found out he wasn't, I still root for him as he plays the game like it was meant to be played. The Pete Rose style of hustle. Being a partial Yankees fan, it was hard for me to decide who to root for in that series, but I can say I wasn't at all disappointed when the Angels won, and was ecstatic when they beat Barry and the Giants. So maybe Eckstein isn't Jewish, or David Cone, another of my childhood heroes, but I like 'em anyway.
