I saw the Count of Monte Cristo with Gerard Depardeiu, subtitled on A&E or something. It seemed to go on forever.

I have a French friend who thought CHiPS was the coolest show when she was a kid in France. I guess some things are just universal.

In the early 90's I met an American who had been living in Paris for a few years who was convinced that the French Ministry of Culture was importing only the worst of American television to help nurture their constituency's sense of cultural superiority.

In fairness to Emmanuelle and her country, he was a chemical engineer working on giant odor-absorbing pellets to be placed around dumps and landfills.
