Cranky Woman: In a column arguing that the Oxygen network isn't nearly as bad as it used to be, Cathy Seipp quotes co-founder Caryn Mandabach as describing the women's channel thusly:

"You wake up in the morning, what do you want to do? You want to stretch. You want to work out. You want to listen to music...And then on the weekends, of course, what do we want to do? We wake up, we want to shop..."
To which Seipp replies:
I don't want to stretch or listen to music when I wake up in the morning. I want to have three cups of coffee and read the paper. No, I really don't want to think about shopping when I wake up on the weekend. What I want to do is go back to bed.

Funny - I wake up and take a shower, pet the dogs, wife and kids then go to work. What's wrong with me?

I like this line:

"We don't feel we're experts in anything," Mandabach said, about Oygen's programming. "We are women, and we feel our way through it, rather than think our way through it."

Hell, it takes more consciousness than that to throw a decent dinner party.

The Mydol network would be more entertaining.
