The EFF doesn't have as many warts as it did in the Wellbert-laden days of its childhood, so it appears to be a reasonable vehicle for asserting the anti-Hollywood position. Ultimately, this fight is going to pit the Tech industry against Hollywood, and privacy rights groups like EFF will sit on the sidelines and watch as the mega-lobbyists fight it out.

Hollywood has the support of the Berman/Waxman machine, the dominant force in LA politics, and the Tech industry has nothing. There are other machines that can fight and kill Berman/Waxman on a national level, and one that can do them some harm on their own turf.

From my perspective, Tara's done more in a week than the EFF in 20 years. I guess I'm just an idiot. Why does everything have to be done the way you guys want it done? If the EFF is in a far better position to do something, why doesn't it? Can't it even find a credible Democratic candidate to go against Coble? Are you seriously concerned about all the attention and money Tara's effort is sucking away from the people "who actually know what they're doing"? Am I the only one who finds that statement a bit elitist? So 99% of the population just shouldn't even bother. Thanks, man.

"PB" -- uh, for what it's worth, I'm ignorant/agnostic about most of this; just thought Knauss, who has written interestingly before, wrote something interesting here that people might want to know about.

Care to be specific about that claim?

If "doing more" is defined by whining on your blog about something - I AM THE KING OF "DOING" THINGS.
