Andy -- I'm an Angels fan by breeding, and location. Grew up in North Long Beach; Dad's had season tickets since about the time I was born. This year's club is particularly fun ... and likely designed specifically to break my heart in 12.

I grew up loving BOTH the Dodgers and the Halos. `86 broke my heart and I had to choose only one team. No kid should be subjugated to that kind of torture. Went with history and chose the Dodgers. I can't even imagine the pain if both made the playoffs this year (if there is a playoff....)

Gee, I just noticed. The A's are in first place.

If they're playing ball on Sept. 9, Matt -- I'm going to that game with or without you.

Howard -- Sorry for being slow & rude ... & so I'll let your rubbing-it-in slide ... for now!

I'll talk to my pa at Thursday night's game to suss out the tix situation. If nothing else, we should grab some bleachers, though we need to make sure it's somewhere that serves beer.

That's not crap you wrote two years ago. It's got more the vibe of what Mickey Kaus sometimes calls, "eerie prescience".

I had made one of my buddies read the Mo Vaughn article after I first saw it lurking around the site. He laughed and then he started noticing. The best moment came during a Giants/Mets game we watched together where big Mo blew a routine sacrifice bunt which keyed a Giants rally.

He's been a believer ever since.
